Wow, Strange Vistas hits 40K

I remember back when I thought 9,000 or 12,000 was a noteworthy benchmark.  Now I’ve hit 40,000 visits, which just seems incredible.  Thanks for visiting here, and I hope you’ve enjoyed checking out all the stuff I do to roll back the bad stuff that work and the world does to me.

I think it’s ironic that I choose to highlight 40K, almost 5% of the visits were to the single battle report on the site: my being shellacked in a game of Warhammer 40K.  The next highest entry is half that.  I do continue to play Warhammer (fantasy, not 40K) but don’t photograph those games.  The reason?  Like so many I play in less than photoready circumstances: unpainted minis, some proxies, and on two banquet tables stuck together with a few odd bits of terrain thrown in.  It is one reason why I have worked at created “sets” of terrain like the ruined fieldstone pieces or the many sci-fi pieces: to be able to field a blog-worthy wargaming table.

Tomorrow I should (God willing and the creek don’t rise) have the fourth small sci-fi module built.  I’d also like to finish a mini I’m painting (the slowness of which proves that I really do have a switch on my back with three settings on it: terrain, miniatures, or roleplaying games).

  1. Congrats on 40K hits and congrats for sticking around so long – that’s half the battle. I’m surprised that your Hirst projects don’t draw more hits – my Hirst project page is the highest viewed item on CTF.

  2. ‘Grats and all. We’ll have to do a few more games one of these days; Mayhaps it’ll put you up to 100k? *laugh*
